Susan "Suzy" Marie Monroe's Obituary
Passed away peacefully at her home under the care of her loving children and SouthernCare Hospice. Suzy was born in Holland, Michigan; the daughter of Clyde J. and Catherine E. (Bayle) Hathaway. She graduated from Jackson High School. She was a stay at home mom for many years.
Suzy was a fantastic mother and grandmother who loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. Growing up with Suzy as a mom was the best because she was so interactive in her children's lives from the home cooked meals at 6 o'clock SHARP to having water balloon fights in the backyard. Many fond memories were spent at the Hill house where pool parties, bon fires, and euchre nights where endless laughter ensued. If you walked into our home on a Saturday afternoon you would likely find cartoons on the TV and Suzy working on a diamond art project or coloring page. Suzy always liked things tidy and would blare out oldies anytime she would clean. In her spare time she loved to read Stephen King and proudly owned every book he wrote.
Suzy is survived by her two sons, K.C. James (Nina) Monroe and Ryan Lee Monroe; her daughter, Shaylah Elizabeth (Jonathon) Allen; six grandchildren, Aiden, Lilyana, J.D., Emmy, Owen and Mason; seven siblings, Nancy Austin, Barbara Hathaway, Sandra Hathaway, Dale (Loretta) Hathaway, James (Tammy) Hathaway, Laurie (Gerald) Brown and Tony Hathaway; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Monroe; brother, Larry J. Hathaway and sister, Joyce A. Hathaway.
A private graveside service was held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Napoleon, Michigan where her ashes were laid to rest along side of her late husband Michael E. Monroe and Hathaway family members.
Suzy's family would like to thank SouthernCare Hospice for the wonderful care given to her over the last couple months; especially Alizabeth and Carla that allowed her to live in her own home.
