Suzanne Elinor Cheney's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Suzanne Elinor Cheney
Suzanne Elinor Cheney of Michigan Center, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024, surrounded by family. She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 53 years, Steve Cheney; sons Bryan Cheney (Tonya) and Kevin Cheney (Kristi); and brothers David (Lynda) and Walter Woodrow. She was a beloved grandmother to Peyton, Alexis, Parker, and Charlie Cheney and Abby and Freddie Horne. She was dear Aunt Suzy to Rachel Hosack, Erin Carr, and Mallory Woodrow.
Suzanne was born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 20, 1952, to Betty and Walter Woodrow. Suzanne was a fiercely bright soul known for her thoughtfulness and wicked sense of humor. A gifted thespian since birth, Suzanne was an award-winning ballroom dancer and performer. She had a deep love of all things theater and directed, acted, and sang in prominent festivals and choirs. Her hilarious portrayals of the Mayor’s Wife (Renaissance Festival) and Queen (Holly Christmas Festival) were perfectly fitting for the elected Mayor and Queen of the Cheney/Woodrow family.
Suzanne loved her people with all her might and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, animal lover, and friend who showed up for every event and milestone with a twinkle in her eye and her expertly wrapped gifts.
The life of every party, Suzy had a knack for making people laugh and for bringing people from many walks of life together—a testament to her infectious personality. Suzy was magic; she will be missed beyond words by all those who knew her.
