Sylvia Mary Marshall's Obituary
Sylvia Marshall, 89, of Jackson, MI, was born on October 29, 1934 in Escanaba, Michigan to her father, Carl Spade and mother Adella (Wiessert). She grew up on a farm in Batavia, MI near Coldwater. She had two brothers, Victor and Mike, (Sofie). She had three sisters: Gloria, (Herman) Watson; Sally, (Clarance) Albright, and Joan Spade. Sylvia married Kenneth Marshall in 1953 and lived on a farm in Homer, MI with their three children: Phillip Marshall, (Diane); Sally Crandall, (Kent); and Douglas Marshall, (Karen). In addition to working the farm Sylvia worked as a laborer at McGraw-Edison Manufacturing in Albion, MI for several years. After the children were grown, she and Ken retired to Clearwater, FL where they lived for 15 years. From there they moved back to Jackson, MI to be closer to their children. She resided there until her passing. Sylvia always displayed a cheerful personality and had an optimistic outlook on life. Sylvia was well known for her flower gardening. She maintained gardens at the local library, their apartment, and several other locations. Her favorite flower was the Dahlia. She made beautiful flower arrangements with large yellow plate dahlias as the center piece. She also enjoyed her grandchildren Andy, Christopher, and Brent and had a major influence on their lives. She also has a great grandson, Mike Crandall. She was loved by all and will be remembered always. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, two sons, Phillip W. and Douglas C. Marshall, daughter Sally J. Crandall, 3 grandsons, Andy, Christopher and Brent, and great-grandson Mike. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services.
