Terry Edward Williams' Obituary
Terry Edward Williams, age 76 of Clarklake, MI, passed away Saturday, August 19,
2023, at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital.
Terry, the eldest of 4 children, was born on January 4, 1947, in Jackson, MI to Harold and Thelma (Adams) Williams. Terry is a graduate of Cement City High School Class of 1965. He later attended and graduated from Northwood University with a bachelor’s in engineering.
Terry met the love of his life, Linda, in Menominee, Mi. They spent their first date boating on a river. Typical Terry fashion, he ran his boat into a sandbar, destroying his motor but not his chances with his future wife. Terry and Linda Schmidt married on December 21, 1974, at the First Baptist Church of Menominee in Menominee, MI. Terry was a hard worker, a character trait and value he instilled in both his children and grandchildren. He spent 15 years working for Goodyear Tire Co. and finished the last 25 years of his career as an engineer for General Motors. Terry and Linda also owned and operated Paradise Campground in Cement City from 1974 until 2020. He spent many weekends “working” at Paradise, which was often code for playing horseshoes or enjoying beverages with the residents. He will be remembered as a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan. On Sundays, you were sure to find him in his favorite Green Bay Packer lounging pants in front of the T.V.
Terry loved being on the beach and enjoying time on Clark Lake. Every sunny, summer day you could see Terry cruising the lake on his double-decker pontoon boat playing Margaritaville on his stereo. His love for the lake and Packers was far outweighed by his love for his family. He was devoted to his wife and children, who were his pride and joy. He was the perfect example of a balance between unconditional and tough love. And no matter the circumstances of life, you could always count on Terry to bring his sense of humor to lighten the mood. Terry’s big smile, big laugh, big presence and big jokes will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Linda; his daughters, Jessica (Robert) Huhn of White Lake, MI; Jennifer (Joseph) Slat of Lake Columbia, MI; sister, Karen (John) Devine of Cement City, MI; grandchildren, Nolan, Cecelia, Abigail; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rick Williams and sister, Debbie Lowe.
At Terry’s request, a private celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House or the National Stroke Association: Michigan Genetics Resource Center. Please leave a message of comfort
for Terry’s family or sign his guestbook at www.EinederFuneralHomes.com.
