Thelma Louise Worden's Obituary
Age 92, of Michigan Center, passed away May 12, 2017 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital. She is survived by two children, Karen Varney, Donald (Barbara) Worden; daughter-in-law Debbie (Worden) Johnson, seven grandchildren, Maria (Matt) Miller, Taria (Dave) Fleming, Sarah (Juan) Rivera, Sonja (Marty) Varney-Herr, Jamison Winters, Steven (Samantha) Worden and Bryan (Shay) Worden, fourteen great-grandchildren, sister, Lois S. Molton, brothers, Jesse J., Marion A., Jason H. (Diane) and Ronald J. Chalfant and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Arthur R. Worden I, and her son, Arthur R. Worden II, brothers, Robert F., Lawrence E., John M. and Cecil C. Chalfant, parents, Herschel H. and Nora B. Chalfant. Thelma was the first drum majorette with the Michigan Center High School Band back in the late thirties, was the First Queen of the Inaugural Michigan Center Water Festival and owned and operated Worden's Dance Studio for 35 years in Michigan Center, touching hundreds of young lives. Mrs. Worden has been cremated. A Memorial Service Celebrating her life will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at noon with Father Tim MacDonald officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to service time. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband Arthur R. at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a private interment service. Contributions in her memory are directed to the Cascades Humane Society.
