Thomas Emmons Gavle, 80, passed away on June 22, 2026.
Military Honors will take place at a later date.
Thomas was born on May 6, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan to Aaron Marcellus Gavle and Mary Esther Emmons. Thomas married the love of his life, Dolores Antoinette Lewandowski, on November 8, 1986 at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Dearborn High School in 1964 and enlisted in the United States Army and was a Bronze Star recipient. He went on to work for the Norfolk Southern Railway (NS) for 30 years as a switchman. Thomas was a member of the Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church. He was an active member with the VVA in Detroit, Michigan where he was heavily involved with PTSD services.
Thomas will be missed by his loving wife, Dolores “Lorie”; his step son Jeffrey Liss of Brooklyn; brother, Brad Gavle; niece Erin (Chris) Meile. He is preceded in death by his son, Martin Gavle and his parents, Aaron and Mary.
