Thomas Henry Swain's Obituary
Age 64, of Napoleon Township, passed away at his home June 5, 2014. He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Sue Carver and Mary Jean (Christopher) Ondercin, five grandchildren, Jessica, Charles, Thomas, Cecelia and Jude, three great-grandchildren, brother Dennis Swain, sister Marie Rupert, step-mother Patricia Swain, eight step-brothers and sisters, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Rose Swain and his grandparents. Thomas retired from Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital in Frankfort, Michigan, as a laboratory director, worked as a substitute teacher in the Jackson area, he co-founded the Center for Independent Living in Jackson as executive director; he had a passion for science and computers. He was an avid tinkerer and shared with his family and friends a love of the outdoors and a vast knowledge from the stars to the oceans. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where a Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 11 am with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday evening, 6-8 pm. Contributions in his memory to his family to help defray final expenses.
