Vaughn Russell Cyphers' Obituary
Age 88, of Jackson, passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Friday, September 22, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Janice K. (Compton) Cyphers, two children, Blinda Dignard and David (Robin) Cyphers, five step-children, Deborah (Steve) Logan, Cindy (Tom) Williams, Vickie Duffy, Danny (Nicole) Draper, Scott Draper, sister-in-law, Marcella Cyphers, many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Russell, sister Lorene Clark, brothers, George, Harold, Wayne and Edward, granddaughter Sandy, two infant children , step-daughter, Penny K Curfey and his parents, Alvin and Hannah (Metcalf) Cyphers. Vaughn had served in the Michigan National Guard and was a lifelong railroader, working as a Car Inspector until his retirement. He was Past-State Worthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was instrumental in founding the FOE Aerie #3534 in Michigan Center, the FOE Aerie #3541 in Harrison and the Michigan Eagle Family Rec. He was a member of the Michigan Center Eagles, the Jonesville Eagles and the Rose City American Legion Post. Services will be held at St. Aidan's Church, 361 East Grove, Michigan Center on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 1:30 pm with Chaplain Greg Grotbeck officiating. Interment Roseland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm with an Michigan State Eagles Officer Memorial Service at 7:30 pm in tandem with a Lodge of Sorrow from Aerie #3634. Contributions in his memory are directed to the FOE Aerie #3634 or the American Legion Rose City Post.
