Verna Ellen Anderson's Obituary
Age 85, of Blackman Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Mission Point Health Campus November 29, 2021. She is survived by two children, Eric (Belinda) Anderson and Lorena (Barton) Deiters; four grandchildren, Kathryn (Brandon) Mullins, Kayla Anderson, Harrison and Sophia Deiters; three great-granddaughters, Hannah, Emily and Rebecca Mullins; brother Lawrence and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Martin; beloved husband of 58 years, Ralph H. Anderson; and her parents, Howard and Theola (Lytle) Wells. Raised in Alma, Michigan, Verna graduated from nursing school in Saginaw, Michigan, and worked in Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma as an LPN. Later she worked as a home care nurse. Verna was an active member of her church for many years, serving as a deaconess, teaching Sunday School and helping with arts and crafts for Vacation Bible School. She also enjoyed teaching ceramics for 4-H and volunteering for Girl Scouts and at her children's school. Funeral services will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home, 820 Fifth St., Michigan Center, Michigan, on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 11 am with Pastor Hal Jankusky officiating. The family will receive friends at 10 am followed by the service at 11 am. Interment will be at 2:30 pm at Riverside Cemetery, Alma, Michigan. Contributions in her memory can be directed to Residential Hospice.
