Violet Slaby's Obituary
Violet Ann Slaby, Age 82, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Spring Arbor Assisted Living Facility. Violet’s family and friends will gather Monday, July 24, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m at Eineder Funeral Homes - Michigan Center Chapel (Formerly Arthur Day Funeral Home). Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Clark Lake, Michigan, with a gathering beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Father Tom Helfrich, OSFS, will serve as celebrant.
Violet was born on August 20, 1940, in Buchanan, Michigan to Merlin and Lorena (Kettlehut) Ludwig. She married the love of her life, Walter, on June 22, 1957, in Jackson, Michigan, spending 62 happy years together. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Violet was a natural caregiver, which is why she excelled at her career as an LPN. She was always there to support not only her patients, but also her family and friends. She will forever be known as the “Red Cake Lady” by her coworkers for the incredible Red Velvet Cakes she baked and shared with others at her job. Violet was a huge animal lover, especially to her cat, Claire. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed spending time at home with her husband, working on special projects on their property and within their home.
Violet will be missed by her children, Elizabeth (Doug) Heath, Theresa Woods, and Andrew (Darlene Reichard) Slaby; grandchildren; Derek (Kelsey) Heath, Adam (Jessica) Woods, and Andrew “Hunter” Slaby, Great Grandchildren, Harper Grace Woods and Carter James Woods, along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Merlin and Lorena Ludwig, two brother’s and one sister.
