Walter Duane Shuberg's Obituary
Shuberg, Walter Duane, Sr., age 81, of Jackson, passed away at his home October 28, 2012 under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Hospice. He is survived by his wife of 61 years; Juanita (Taylor) Shuberg, five children; Elaine (Paul) Kalbarczyk, Eileen (Tracy) Bolenbaugh, Marjorie (Brad) Hochstetler, Walter (Jean) Shuberg Jr., and Martha (William Thompson) Shuberg, seven grandchildren; Jeffery (Erin) Knapp, Kristy (Warner) Soper, Gregory (Mindy) Knapp, Joseph Kalbarczyk, Brian (Nicole) Knapp, Justin (Jodie) Shuberg and Walter D. Shuberg III, eleven great-grandchildren; Kilian, Elizabeth, Hayden, Luke, Molly, Maggie, Rylee, Camden, Bella, Easton and Bryson, three sisters; Louise (Robert) Cole, Betty Suggett and Roseann (Jack) Sheehan, brother-in-law; Gerald (Jan) Taylor, two sisters-in-law; Jean Harbottle and Priscilla Moorehead, many nieces and nephews and special caregiver, Jane Culpepper. He was preceded in death by his parents; Fred and Katherine Shuberg, sister; Katherine Cox, brother; Carl Shuberg, brother-in-law; Richard Taylor and sister-in-law; Barbara Futrell. He owned and operated Walt's Health Foods and Specialty Shop and Natural Health Foods in Jackson until his retirement, his son and grandson continue to run the business. He was a fan of Michigan Football and NASCAR, a member of the Jackson Civitan Club, Jim Beam Bottle Collectors Club, German American Club, the Grotto Club, the American Legion, the Jackson Moose Lodge and Saint Johns United Church of Christ, (801 S. Mechanic St., Jackson) where funeral services will be held on Walt's 82nd birthday, Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 1 pm with Rev. Dr. Susan K. Weier officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday 3 to 7 pm.
