Slaby, Walter Richard
Age 85, of Columbia Township, passed away June 4, 2020 at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. His is survived by his wife of 62 years; Violet Ann (maiden-Ludwig) Slaby, three children; Elizabeth (Doug) Heath, Theresa Woods and Andrew Slaby (Darlene Reichard) , three grandchildren; Derek (Kelsey) Heath, Adam (Jessica) Woods and Hunter Slaby, great-granddaughter; Harper Grace Woods, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Walter R. and Frances C. (maiden-Kulas) Slaby and his great-grandparents who raised him; Frank and Mary Kulas. A loving husband and father, Walter served the nation in the US Army and was a Master Electrician retiring from Kelsey-Hayes. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also devoted a lot of time making his lawn and gardens beautiful. He was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church (10516 Hayes Road, Clark Lake) where a Mass of the Resurrection will be held Monday, June 8, 2020 at 11 am with Father Tom Helfrich, O.S.F.S. officiating. Interment St. Johns Cemetery, Jackson with graveside Military Honors courtesy of the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. The family will receive friends at the Church one hour prior to service time. Those attending will be required to wear face masks. Contributions in his memory are directed to the American Cancer Society.
