Of Michigan Center, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the age of 96. Willard was born to Claude W. and Grace O. (Huggins) Farr in Michigan Center on July 27, 1921. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl "Cy" Farr and sister, Ardella (Farr) Redmond. Willard is survived by his wife of 73 years, Helen L.; his two daughters, Jean C. Farr and Joan A. Farr (Bruce Eaton); brother, George T. Farr; several nieces and nephews. He attended Michigan Center High School, Class of 1941; where he excelled in track, holding the record for the mile run for nearly 20 years in Jackson County. Willard proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard on the East coast from 1941-1945. Woody's cooking abilities on the farm growing up continued through his service years and later as a professional chef and baker at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, NJ. Moving back to Michigan Center with his wife Helen in 1948, he then worked at the Clark Equipment Cafeteria as cook and baker for 25 years. Woody loved animals, gardening and was artistically inclined which showed in his many projects through the years. The family is most grateful to the care workers of Right at Home and Great Lakes Caring and Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness.
