William Robert “Bill” Gentner, 89, of the Irish Hills, MI, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Henry Ford Hospice Home in Jackson, surrounded by his loving family. His family and friends will gather from 3PM until Read Obituary
My grandpa was a man whose life was defined by hard work, integrity, and service to others. Through his dedication to Gentner Trucking, he built more than a business he built a legacy of perseverance, honesty, and commitment. Beyond his work, he gave countless hours serving on boards and helping strengthen the community he loved, always willing to step up when others needed him.
I have always looked up to him. He taught me, not only through his words but through his actions, what it means to work hard, care for your community, and put family first. His influence has helped shape the man I am today, and I will carry those lessons with me for the rest of my life.
I am incredibly proud to call him my grandfather. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the example he set for all of us. He will be deeply missed, but he will never be forgotten.

While I was acquainted with Bill for many years through business and civic activities, it was only over the last four or five years that I really got to know him well. Bill, his brother Norm, and Rick Richardson—"the three amigos," as we called them—became regular fixtures at our weekly Friday afternoon social gatherings at my office.
It was during these times that I truly grew to appreciate Bill’s deep dedication to his family and the community. He was a genuinely kind man who will be deeply missed by myself and so many others. My thoughts and prayers are with Marge and the entire Gentner family.
