Jack Mortenson
I remember Uncle Bill for his kindness. He helped kids, he admired llamas, he was quick on his feet to lend a hand, he made sure everyone in the room was alright and had what they needed. He was a keen observer of people and nature, His work took him into the bowels of buildings and programs designed to deliver a product, but he wanted better results and better treatment of the workers, even when it wasn't a popular idea with higher ups in the organization.
He and my Aunt Sue provided love, guidance, and mentorship as I found my way to becoming an adult and true friendship through the years. I admired his ability to analyze problems or situations, describe them succinctly and point a way to their resolution, even with small doses of wry humor. I feel very fortunate for the good times we shared in Michigan, California, and Oregon.
