William Kendall Rothfuss' Obituary
William Kendall Rothfuss, 79, formerly of Brooklyn passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Henry Ford Hospital, Jackson, Michigan. Bill’s family and friends will gather for a celebration of life 3:00pm-6:00pm, Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn Chapel.
He was born on October 30, 1946, in Jackson, Michigan, to Charles D. and Fern M. (Talbot) Rothfuss.
Bill attended Brooklyn Community Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 1965. He remained proud of his roots and enjoyed reconnecting with classmates at many reunions over the years.
He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his service, Bill was employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Jackson, Michigan, where he worked until the plant’s closing in 1984.
Bill valued his independence and found peace in solitude, especially in the outdoors he loved so dearly. Though he cherished time alone, he was also incredibly generous. He eagerly taught those who were interested in bird watching, fishing, hunting, and trapping, passing along not only skills but also a deep respect for nature.
A devoted outdoorsman, Bill had a lifelong passion for wildlife and conservation. He spent countless hours observing and caring for the natural world, finding joy in its quiet rhythms and seasonal changes. He held a special fascination with bluebirds and became affectionately known as “Bluebird Bill” for his dedicated efforts to welcome bluebirds during migration and to care for them throughout the nesting season.
Bill was also a member of the Springville Methodist Church men’s breakfast group, known as the “Springville Guys,” where he valued the camaraderie and fellowship of friends.
Bill is survived by his brothers, Donald (Anne) Rothfuss, George H. Rothfuss, and John (Ruth) Rothfuss; many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend and advocate, Sylvia Kay.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Charles E., Glen W., and Dennis H.; and a niece Erin L. Rothfuss.
