Wilma Lois Guernsey's Obituary
Wilma Lois Guernsey, 87, of Brooklyn passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Kresge Healthcare and Rehab Center, Chelsea. Wilma’s family and friends will gather Friday, March 31, 2023 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 am following the visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church, 160 N. Main Street, Brooklyn. Interment to be at Jefferson Cemetery. Pastor Tamara Recob will serve as celebrant.
She was born on March 1, 1936, in Jackson, Michigan to Thomas and Reo (Johnson) Weaver, Sr... Wilma married the late Kenneth Guernsey, on December 21, 1953, in Brooklyn, Michigan. They had 67 wonderful years together, until his passing in 2020. Wilma is a Brooklyn High School graduate, class of 1954. She is a longtime resident of the Brooklyn area, belonging to the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church for over 75 years and the Rebekah Lodge. Ken built their home here and they never left. She was extremely kindhearted, loved her grandchildren, dogs, flowers and many friends. In her earlier years, she won a silver plate for her pies, and awards for her roses as well. She was an incredible cook and baker. Wilma loved to spoil her grandchildren, taking them on trips to Chicago and vacations at the lake. She cherished her family above all. Wilma played Euchre up to the very end. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the loving, caring staff at Kresge Healthcare and Rehab for their outstanding care.
Wilma is survived by her children, Ronald (Donna) Guernsey and Randy (Lynn) Guernsey; brothers, Thomas Weaver and Lowell Weaver; sisters-in-law, Sesko Weaver and Debra Weaver; grandchildren, Quinn (Julia) Guernsey, Katie, Kelsey, Kyle and Cara Guernsey; great grandchildren, Aria, James and Owen; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; brothers, Carl and Ace Weaver; and sisters, Louise Sawdy and Joyce Brower.
