David was born on September 24, 1944, in Detroit, MI, to Wilbur and Eleanor (Scott) Schneider. He married the love of his life, Patricia Elaine DeLair, in 1964, in Detroit, MI, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He graduated from Detroit Cody High in 1963. Afterwards he attended trade school to become a mechanic. David worked 30 years at Clark Lift of Detroit, where he worked on the lift trucks as a mechanic. He was a past member of the Somerset Township Fire Department, where he was the chief and the assistant chief. David was a “Brooklyn Buddy” at the Columbia School district where he volunteered to come in to make popcorn and read to the children. He was lovingly known as the “popcorn man” by the children. David loved Nascar racing, but enjoyed any car racing, as well. He even raced cars on his own when he was younger. David was a fan of the Detroit Lions, the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers. To relax, he enjoyed going to Belle Isle to watch the freighters on the Detroit River. David was a past member and president of the Inter Lakes Lions Club. He loved staying busy and never wanted to just sit around.
David will be missed by his wife, Patricia DeLair; his children, Lisa Schneider, Michael Schneider and Mathew (Kathy) Schneider; grandchildren, Meghan (Joshua) Blalock, Patrick (Chelsea) Schneider, Aaron Rooker and Corey Rooker; great grandchildren, Abraham Blalock, one on the way, Gracie Schneider, Madelynn Rooker and Mackenzie Rooker; sister-in-law, Peggy DeLair, Barb DeLair and Denise DeLair; brother-in-law, Charlie DeLair; honorary great grandchildren, Gabriella Brown, Elijah Brown and Aiden Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
