Dianne Ruth Schwab's Obituary
Dianne Ruth Schwab, 88, of Traverse City passed away at Joy Givers Senior Home on January 6, 2024. Dianne’s family and friends will gather on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm at Eineder Funeral Homes – Manchester Chapel and Monday, January 22, 2024, from 10:00 am-11:00 am at St Joe’s Catholic Church in Dexter, MI. Her Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Joe’s Catholic Church. Presiding will be Father Brendan Walsh. Interment of ashes will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Manchester, MI.
Dianne was born on April 25, 1935, in Ann Arbor, MI to Harold and Ruth (Steinaway) Ahrens. She was a 1953 graduate of Manchester High School. Dianne married the love of her life, the late Bill Schwab on June 23, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester, MI. They had 59 wonderful years together before his passing in 2015.
Dianne fondly remembered her time growing up on the farm, and while raising her 5 children found time for sewing, flower gardening, traveling, and camping with her family. She loved her Sunday visits with her sister-in-law Maggie and many other homebound friends. Dianne enjoyed dancing and singing in the choir with Bill and being a part of the Faith Renewal classes. She was driven by her faith in Christ and was dedicated to being of service to her community. Her legacy lives on through organizations including being a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church until her move to Traverse City in 2018, the founding Director of the Community Resource Center and board member, Kiwanis Club of Saline and Manchester, Key Club Advisor, Manchester Family Services, Manchester Community Fair Board, a lifetime member of Girl Scouts, Manchester Area Senior Citizens Group and Altar Society. She will be remembered as a woman who truly loved and cherished her family and was always there to help with any need in her community.
Dianne will be greatly missed by her children, Philip (Jan) Schwab of Colorado Springs, CO, Kenneth (Lisa) Schwab of Raliegh, NC, Laura Schwab of Traverse City, MI, Carolyn Schwab of Traverse City, MI and Mark Schwab of Brooklyn, MI; siblings, Leonard (Carolyn) Ahrens; sister-in-law, Wanda Watson, of Whitehall, MI; grandchildren, Patrick, Kaitlin (Juan), Evan, Lexie (Dan), Ariel (Nick) and Jonathan (Sarah); four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and best friends, Elaine Ewald and Joan Withrow. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill and brother, Ronald (Wanda) Ahrens.
