Donna Leone Howland's Obituary
Donna Leone Howland, 94, of Brooklyn, passed away October 4, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Donna’s family and friends will gather Friday, October 13, 2023, for visitation from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM-8:00PM and Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 10:00AM- 11:00AM at Eineder Funeral Homes- Brooklyn Chapel. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00AM at Eineder Funeral Homes- Brooklyn Chapel. Interment to follow at Highland Cemetery. Pastor Rich Zawadzki, of Loomis Park Baptist Church, will officiate the service.
Donna was born on October 9, 1928, in Dundee, MI to Maxwell and Grace (Campbell) LaLonge. Donna married the love of her life, Hugh Howland Jr, in 1949 in Clarklake, MI and had 74 years happily married before his passing in June of 2023. Donna loved music. She was known for having a beautiful singing voice and was a regular soloist in her church. Hugh stated before his passing that her singing voice would be the thing he would miss most. She taught Sunday school for many years and was heavily involved in her churches’ women’s groups. Donna was a true-blue farmer’s wife. She loved gardening, canning, and cooking. She would cook large meals twice a day that would feed her family as well as all the hired hands on the farm. She was a seamstress and would make all her kid’s clothes when they were little. Donna loved her grandkids and great- grandkids. They would come and visit and spend a few days with their grandparents. Donna and Hugh will be remembered for being givers all their lives.
Donna will be missed by her children, Kristine (Jim) Hittler, Brian Howland; grandchildren Joshua (Emily) Hittler, Zachariah (Lindsay) Hittler; great grandchildren Eva Rose Hittler, Joel Daniel Hittler, Lydia Grace Hittler, Elliott James Hittler, Austin Drew Hittler, Addison Joy Hittler; She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hugh Jr., her daughter Terri L Howland and her sister Ollie Verdon.
