Doretta Ann Shewman-Turk's Obituary
After a 4-year courageous battle with esophageal cancer, Doretta Ann Shewman-Turk of Clarklake; peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on February 10, 2023. Doretta was 64 years old at the time of her passing. She is survived by her husband Michael Turk, children Jasmine and Clark Seefeld, Eric and Beth Mason, Sean Mason and Lacey Schmidt; granddaughter, River; step-daughter, Rachelle Turk; grandson, Maverick; step-son, Michael Turk Jr.; and her beloved dog Lucy-Bella. She is also survived by her siblings, Diana and Dennis Valentine, Donna and Jerry Creech, Darryl Shewman, Doreen and James Kurtz, Denise and John Braun, and her many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Doretta grew up in Cement City, MI and lived in the Brooklyn community her entire life. She blessed the lives of our community with her beautiful voice and wonderful flute playing. She was also known for her love of nature and people. Chances are, she knew your name, your family, and details about your extended family. She was a light to those around her, especially throughout her battle with cancer. Her faith and strength was and is inspiring to all who knew her.
You are welcome to join friends and family for Doretta’s visitation on Wednesday, February 15th from 6-8PM at Eineder Funeral Home – Brooklyn Chapel, 137 S. Main St., Brooklyn, MI and Thursday, February 16th from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Brooklyn Presbyterian Church, 160 N. Main St., Brooklyn, MI. As per Doretta’s wishes, the visitation will be closed casket. If you would like to join us for a service honoring the life of Doretta, the service will be on Thursday, February 16th from 11-12PM at the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church, followed by her burial at Roseland Memorial Gardens, 3744 Brooklyn Rd., Jackson, MI.
