I remember my brother, John, returning from a visit with cousin Tim in Mass, ... and ultimately totally enamored after meeting Gail. The first time I met Gail was at Round Lake, and I thought she was very shy and quiet. And wondered, how could she ever be a match for John. But it was, and Gail and I had soon had "secret" lots of laughs, and even more secret talks about John and eventually the dynamics of families, even when we were states apart. Friday nights were at Carmella's... Gail, nibbling on nachos and me, devouring burritos. And, a few margaritas and rum cokes.
It didn't take long for her to call John's antics with a softly spoken "John". When they were married, it was so sweet of Gail to ask if Kelly could stand with them. When Corey was born, Gail and John became Godparents. John rough housed, and Gail won Kelly and Corey's hearts. Kelly loved being with her, and Gail provided Kelly with memorable moments over the years. Like the beautiful teddy bear cake for her 6th birthday, and the prom dress they both saw in a magazine together and Gail jumped in and bought it for her.
I never had a sister, but I always felt like this what it must be like. Then, each of us moving around the country put a gap out there. Over the years, Gail was a trooper, quietly holding her own. I admire that in her, and am saddened at the same time. We will all miss you, Gail; and know we all loved you. Sherryl
