Gail Louise McGovern's Obituary
Today, Wednesday, September 28, 2022, God took Gail Louise McGovern into his arms and ended her 10-year battle with MS and its associated diseases and infections. Gail is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, John (who proposed to Gail on their first date); her mother, Edna Hanson; her daughter, Casey (Kevin) Henley; son, John H. (Jada) McGovern; grandchildren, John, Samantha and Andrew Henley; her sister, Kathy (Mark) Belella; sister-in-law, Sherryl (Jon) Doe; niece, Kelly Klingman; nephews, Corey Burnett, Scott McGovern and their families. Gail was preceded in death by her father, John Hanson; grandchild, Gabriel Henley; mother-in-law and father -in-law Earlene and John W. McGovern.
She was born on December 30, 1952, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts to John and Edna (DeRoucher) Hanson and graduated in 1970 from Dartmouth High School. After moving from Massachusetts to Ohio to marry John, Gail attended the University of Toledo. John and Gail were married on May 6, 1972, in Toledo, Ohio. Over the next 50 years they had fun on a daily basis, enjoying life, raising their family, and loving their pets. Gail had a variety of careers, including Administration with Haughton, Reliance and Schindler Elevator; Junior Achievement; and working in Human Resources at a children’s respite daycare facility. She also managed to be a stay-at-home mom while the kids were in school.
Gail was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2013. She courageously battled her MS and the associated side effects. Her health progressively worsened.
In lieu of flowers, Gail would appreciate a donation to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or any children’s charity. Please leave a message of comfort for Gail’s family or sign her guestbook at www.EinederFuneralHomes.com.
