I’m so sorry to hear of Mrs Upham’s death. Tim, Marie and I were all good friends at n high school. We were always welcome at the Upham’s house for parties and to practice our fractured French.
Janet Holton ( now Zelda Hawkins)
Mom - the Facebook of our family. One phone call to her and you were updated on all the goings on in the Upham clans. She was my biggest cheerleader, my best friend and confidante.
We shared the grief of losing spouses, the joy of attending weddings together and delighted in the miracle of new births.
Mom always lit a candle at dinner time - for Dad and anyone else who needed a special thought for them.
So this candle is for you Mom and Dad - for many things but especially for weaving the fabric of our family so tightly with love that no matter what happens - we will always be there for each other.
Nanner
More than a person, more than a feeling, and more than place. That name will forever hold an unforgettable place in my heart.
Nanner was more than a loving mother and grandmother. There was never a time you saw her unhappy or mad. She was truly grateful for her life and everyone in it. And she reminded us of that daily. What she didn’t know was how grateful we were of her. She was the true meaning of humble, putting everyone else before herself. Never forgetting to write us on our special days, life milestones, and on days she was reminded of us. Nanner was an emotion, one that made you proud. One that would bring back memories and never let you forget your family. Emotions that were happy, silly, and joyful. A feeling of true belonging because no matter what you were always loved. She set an amazing example of being a loving and faithful spouse. A spouse we all strive to be. Nanner was a place. A place for celebrations, renewal, relaxation, adventure, entertainment, and history. A place where you walked through the door and you were greeted by a petite hug and the smell of something that was freshly made. The calmness and old-fashionedness was rejuvenating. Adventure would always near. Hiking the property, exploring the pole barn, and rummaging through the things inside, there was never a time that was uneventful. There was always something to learn because everything had a story to tell. Entertainment was a favorite, there was always music. Whether it was her singing, playing the piano, or a CD playing music was all around. Christmas was always a special time. It brought a whole new feeling, a whole new smell, and a whole new image. Christmas at Nanner’s was more than a gift exchange, it was Bing Crosby, a vintage tree, handmade stockings, delicious food and drinks, amazing stories, competitive games, and warmth from gratitude.
What is more special than all of this, is that she captured it all. Nanner was known to always have her camera and to catch these memories. Memories that will forever fill my heart, memories I can share with my family, and memories that will remind me of Nanner.
The Parker family in Ohio send condolences to all of the family. Nanner was quite a woman and left many memories to all who came in contact with her. I know she will be especially missed by her son Tim who visited her every day. They were both blessed that they lived so close to each other. Donna, Sue, Randy and Dicky
