Marguerite Louise Upham's Obituary
Marguerite (Mickey) Louise Upham, Age 93, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023. She was born on July 9, 1929, in Sens, France to André and Marcelle (Fauvet) Queyrat. The oldest of 4 children she was one who would seek adventure in life. She grew up in occupied France during World War II where she met and fell in love with an American paratrooper, Theadore (Ted) E Upham. In 1947 Ted returned to France to marry her and brought her back to Michigan where they would spend 62 wonderful years together until Ted’s passing in 2009.
Mickey was completely devoted to her husband, family, and friends and was an inspiration to those around her. She was an excellent cook, and baker, who enjoyed quilting and scrapbooking, and especially loved visiting with family, friends, and mowing her lawn.
Some might say she was “Fun Size” but whatever she lacked in height she more than made up for in spirit. She was affectionately known to all her grandkids as Nanner. They all loved to compare heights whenever they visited and it was cause for celebration when they were finally taller than Nanner.
Mickey leaves behind a legacy of selfless devotion, hard work, empathy, and love.
Marguerite will be missed by her children, Timothy (Melody) Upham, Marie Kilian, Jon (Terri) Upham, Monique (Brian) Dionne, and Ben (Jennifer) Upham; siblings, Andrée Bonneau, Jacques Queyrat, and Danièle Moreau, grandchildren Michael (Kathryn) Upham, Bryan (Laura) Upham, Alex (Antoinette) Upham, Gabrièle (fiancé Bernabé Murguia) Dionne, Arièle (Isaac) Worrall, Parker (Cayla) Upham, Justine (Ryan) Bouman, Simon Upham, Nathaniel Dionne, Megan (fiancé Ryan Willis) Upham, Daniel (Marisa) Dionne, Andrew Upham, Samuel Dionne, Gisèle Dionne, and 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Joan Upham; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Theadore, daughter-in-law Cynthia Upham and her parents André and Marcelle Queyrat.
A celebration of Mickey’s life is planned for family and friends on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the family home. Please come and share your stories with us.
