I have only fun and wonderful memories of Mike and am so sad for his loss. While our paths changed, he remained in my heart, always!
Mike was such a thoughtful, sweet, kind, hilarious and endearing soul. We did so many fun things together--dancing; bowling; banana splits--no chocolate/2 strawberries; putt putt; fireworks. If you ever spent any quality time with Mike, you surely know what it is to lose him when he would wander away in a crowd (Detroit Fireworks), on a trip (Washington DC or Florida) or major family events (Big Jim's 50th birthday party). It was one of his superpowers.
I smile remembering that thick tea he drank and the stacks of dry peanut butter sndwiches he packed for work. He loved his long walks with Lacey. That bond was so beautiful.
As I write this, the memories are pouring in--way too many to mention but I still laugh remembering the city-wide Hallowen party in Ann Arbor when a gorilla walked up and tried to kiss Mike. The gorilla, quickly, trying to avoid the impending black eye, pulled off his mask just to see it was "Eric, God Damnits!!!"
Hanging with Mike was always an adventure no matter what we did or where we went. He was just that kind of spark that lit up the faces of those around him.
My days with Mike are treasures and some of the best memories I'll ever know. My heart is with you Norma and family.
Thank you for sharing him with me. He was a gift to us all!
Rest in peace Michael--love yous.
