Patrice Helene Somerville's Obituary
Patrice “Patty” Helene Somerville, 73, of Manchester passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Patrice was born on December 25, 1950 in Detroit, MI to Stanley and Helen (Kortze) Stockton. She married her husband, Larry Leatherman, who was her high school sweetheart, on January 29, 1993 after they reconnected at their 20th High School Reunion. Together they enjoyed camping in their younger years and more recently drives in nature and sitting near the lake. Patrice enjoyed collecting rocks, reading, music, knitting, and taking beautiful photography.
Patrice attended Thurston High School in Redford, MI and then went on to graduate from Concordia University Ann Arbor. She worked at the University of Michigan for over 30 years and was an administrator in the Department of Environmental and Health Sciences at the time of her retirement.
Patrice will be remembered for her big heart with constant care and concern for all of her family members, friends or anyone in need. She was a selfless person who was always willing to help people in any way that she could.
In addition to her husband, Patrice is survived by their children, Stephanie (Ken) Lundberg of St. Joseph, MI, Beth Young and Paul Baker of Portland, MI, Jessica (Todd) Hunt of Naples, FL, and Melissa Leatherman, Manchester; their grandchildren, Jordan Somerville, Noah Young, Paula Baker, Paul Baker, Gianna Eveleno, Giulliania Patrice Eveleno, Kali Hunt and Kambri Hunt; her siblings, Robert (Cheryl) Stockton of Tecumseh, MI, Karen (Ken) Adkins of New Milford, CT, Steven (Janet) Stockton of Hartland, MI, Philip (Nancy) Stockton of Manchester, NH, and Sandy (Danny) Bergum, Manchester; nieces and nephews, Robin (Joseph) Dick, Victoria Stockton, Steven Stockton, Joshua (Sarah) Stockton, Jeni Vincent, Kathryn Stockton, Alexandria Adkins, Alicia Stockton, Shiloh Moore, and Isaiah Moore; great nieces and nephews, Rachel, Jack, Everett, Brayden, Layla, and Emmalyn; two great-great nephews, Carson and Clayton; and several cousins.
Patrice was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and father of her children, Timothy Somerville, and an infant niece, Jennifer Stockton.
Memorial contributions may be made in Patrice’s name to the Manchester Food Pantry through the Manchester Community Resource Center.
