Barbara (Hess) Keyes
I have clear memories of Winifred as she was supported by my church and she was also a good friend of my family. We loved to hear about her life in Japan as a single woman. I remember one of her slides of the heavy snowfalls. People dug out deep "tunnels" to the houses and streets. Pretty amazing even though I lived in Michigan with lots of snow. As a teenager, I was thrilled when Winnie and Dick met and eventually married, especially as they lived far away from each other in Japan. It was obvious God brought them together to serve Him and to build a loving home and to raise four sons. We loved Dick as soon as we met him. My parents especially remained good friends with Dick and Winnie. Winnie was a great role model to me as a young lady.
