Winifred Irene McGuire's Obituary
Winifred Irene McGuire, 96, of Jackson passed away peacefully Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Henry Ford Hospice Home, Jackson. Winnie’s family and friends will gather Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Cornerstone Community Church, 201 Constitution, Brooklyn. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with Interment of Ashes to follow at Highland Cemetery. Pastor John Masters will serve as celebrant.
She was born on June 19, 1926, in Ferndale, Michigan to Worley and Carrie (Osborn) Whisman. Winnie married the love of her life, the late Richard McGuire on July 27, 1961, in Tokyo, Japan. They had 51 blessed years together before his passing in 2013. She will be remembered for her commitment to her loving God. Winnie had a fulfilled, wonderful, blessed life, raising four wonderful sons, who are great husbands, fathers and United States Citizens. Winnie served in an Evangelical Mission T.E.A.M most of her adult life, retiring in 1997. In her mission work, she taught English to the Japanese High School students and cooking classes. She cherished the time with her family skiing, swimming, picnics at the cabin in the mountains and holiday gatherings at their homes. Her proudest accomplishment was to learn to speak Japanese. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and cross stitch. Winnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Winnie is survived by her children, Richard McGuire, Jr., Brent (Naomi) McGuire, Paul McGuire, Brian (Rameka) McGuire; grandchildren Dylan, Nicolette, Alec, Casey (Kim), Aaron (Rachel), Emma and Paige; one great granddaughter, Mia; several nieces and nephews and a special cousin, Janice (James) Meechum. She is preceded in death by her parents, Worley and Carrie; husband, Richard; two brothers and a sister.
